As
trainers, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to accomplish
the same goal – helping our clients get into better shape. We want
to create exciting, effective routines. I find that the best way to accomplish
this for your client is to add rubberized resistance and the Ultra Toner™
is the right tool for pumping up a stale routine. It can help increase
muscle strength, range of motion and muscle endurance. No matter what
their ability, you’re students and clients can choose the correct
resistance level and be challenged by the Ultra Toner™.
When
using the Ultra Toner™ with group classes or with a client, help
them to choose the correct resistance. They should reach moderate to maximum
muscle fatigue between 10-20 repetitions. If the band is too easy, they’ll
know. If it’s too hard, they won’t be able to complete the
full range of motion. Encourage them to stay in control and keep a steady
pace. Add music with a steady tempo around 124-128bpm. This is a great
way to inspire and motivate!
There
are endless innovative ways to use the Ultra Toner™.
Have
the client place the ultra toner on their shoes, squat down low and side
step to the right 4 times then left 4 times. Instruct them to continue
to do this until they are fatigued working the lower body – specifically
those medial gluts and quads. Tell them to – “imagine they
are sweeping their buns across a picnic bench”.
Have
the client keep the Ultra Toner™ on their shoes and sink down into
a plie (wide stance, heels face together, toes apart). Encourage them
to hold an isometric plie as they lift and lower their heels, working
their calves and legs. This also incorporates core body balance.
Have
the client stand tall with the Ultra Toner™ on their shoes. Have
them try balancing on one foot while performing quad lifts moving into
leg extensions.
Have
the client hold the Ultra Toner™ in their hands and pull it open
across their chest working the rhomboids and mid back. Encourage them
to balance on one foot and incorporate the core body stabilizers.
Use
the Ultra Toner™ during your ab routine. Have your clients place
the band on one shoe and hold the other handle in their opposite hand.
In supine crunch position, have them pull their hand and press their foot
away as they do their bicycle ab exercises. This adds resistance and it
requires balance and mind body connection as they push and pull.
These
are just a few of many ways to incorporate the Ultra Toner™ into
your client’s routines and in your classes. You can mimic many everyday
activities with this band like rowing, pumping, sidestepping, and others
by continuing the repetitions to fatigue you’ll get their heart
rates up, help them burn calories and ultimately get them in better shape!
